"Too Cool for Rules" is an episode of Strawberry Shortcake's Berry Bitty Adventures.

Synopsis[]

Plum decides to make up her own rules after she gets tired of being scolded by everyone else when she forgets theirs. But this causes hurt feelings and the others retaliate by making their own, worse rules.

Summary[]

One sunny day a group of Berrykin are on their way to a picnic spot when they find the ferry floating away from the dock. They attempt to pull it back and realize that someone forgot to tie the rope holding it in place. They attempt to get it back to the dock using their lunch items as a homemade raft, but two of them gt stuck in the muck at the bottom of the pond. The others get stuck trying to help them. Luckily, Strawberry realized that she forgot the dessert that she made for them and arrives in time to save the Berrykin.

Once the boat is back on shore, she sends the Berrykin on their way and spots a purple cellphone. She realizes Plum was there and picks it up, just in time to bump into Orange and Plum, who are on their way to Blueberry's book meeting. Strawberry hands over the phone and brings up what happened, with Plum fairly certain that she tied the rope and blissfully indifferent to what happened. Strawberry reminds her that the rule is to tie it with two knots, but instead of listening Plum makes a joke before stating that the rules Lemon made aren't important.

Before heading to Blueberry's she decides to swing by Orange Mart to hand out some invitations. Jadeybug is impressed not only by the number of invitations but that Plum wants to send them through Extra Special Super Urgent Ultra Fast Delivery- which requires a special stamp she loves getting to use.

Sceduale

Everyone is pleased by the invitations, with the exception of Strawberry and Blueberry. Blueberry reserved the Cafe that night, and Strawberry assures her that it still belongs to her. She wonders if Plum forgot to sign up to use the Cafe one of these nights, or if she just didn't check the schedule chart. Realizing this and refusing to bend the rules, Strawberry has no choice but to inform Plum of the mistake.

Strawberry explains this to Plum once she finds her, and she refuses to make Blueberry switch nights when she reserved it first. Plum attempts to bargain with Strawberry but she won't hear of it. Blueberry followed the rules. She apologizes to Plum and offers to help her modify her invitations so that she can hold her event a different night, but Plum is frustrated and asks Strawberry to leave.

A few days later, Strawberry heads to the Salon to find Orange bringing up the "joke invitations" that Plum made to Raspberry. To their shock, Strawberry reveals that Plum was being serious; she's upset and she decided to make up some brand new rules. To get inside they must wear a yellow hat, knock three times, and guess the password.

Lemon, Raspberry and Mr. Longface arrive for their dance lesson and are forced to knock and guess the password, but are turned down for not having yellow hats after they finally get it. This frustrates the trio and they leave.

Annoyed

That evening, the girls hold book club and realize Plum didn't show up. Strawberry calls Plum to make sure she is okay, but Plum claims she is too busy with dance practice. Strawberry is concerned, so she pays her a visit the next day in hopes of speaking with her. But to her concern, she discovers that Raspberry, Lemon and Mr. Longface made up their own silly rules in order to get back at Plum, and Strawberry isn't happy when this prevents her from getting done what she needed. She holds an emergency meeting with the other girls, and she explains to them that getting back at Plum is just going to make things worse. It's not fair to make her do these things either, even if she did it to them.

Unfortunately, Strawberry is unable to get through to anyone. They get so frustrated that instead of just targeting Plum, they make everyone enforce these new silly rules. But this ends up hurting Raspberry, Lemon and Mr. Longface a few days later, because everyone else is avoiding them now. The trio decide to remove their new rules and are forgiven by the others, with Strawberry in higher spirits to see them getting along again. But she realizes that Plum still hasn't gotten the idea yet.

As this is going on, Plum heads out to deliver her new invitations. But she gets rejected by the others because of her rules. Wanting the others to attend, Plum agrees to forgo her new rules- but only for that night.

Shock

That following evening everyone enjoys the dance recital until a break is called for them to enjoy the prepared food and drink. Suddenly, Plum realizes there are punctures in the floor and she starts to panic, until she realizes they came from Jadeybug's heels. She scolds her for forgetting that she couldn't wear them there, but Jadeybug innocently reminds her that she got rid of all the rules for tonight, so she didn't know that one was still in effect. She admits that she didn't understand that rule before, but she remorsefully agrees to remove her heels now that she knows. Plum realizes that what she did out of anger was wrong, and Jadeybug and Strawberry offer to help her refinish the floor. She is surprised by their kindness, but she accepts after apologizing for her lack of consideration. She promises to be more respectful of the rules from now on.

A few days later, Plum is shown to have remembered this when she has to remind the others to tie the ferry's rope knot twice.

Lessons[]

Plum learns that while some rules may not make sense or seem useless, they should be respected because they were made for a reason. After explaining why she doesn't like heeled shoes in her dance studio, she realizes how important the other rules were.

Lemon, Mr. Longface and Raspberry learn that seeking revenge after being wronged by someone else only provides more fuel and worsens a problem.
